The Boko Haram insurgents group has released video of some of the Chibok girls still in their captivity clutching an AK47 rifle.
The video, which Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida said has not been uploaded on Youtube, but was sent to him identified the girl holding the AK47 rifle as Maida Yakubu, one of the girls abducted from the dormitory of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in April 2014, while the other girls stood by her side.
According to Salkida, the girls explained in the video why they refused to join the 82 girls recently released in a swap deal brokered by the International Red Cross between the Nigerian Government and the Boko Haram group..
At the heat of the release of the 82 girls, Zannah Mustapha, a negotiator involved in the swap deal is reported to have said that some of the abducted girls refused to go home.
“Some girls refused to return …I have never talked to one of the girls about their reasons,” Mustapha said.
“As a mediator, it is not part of my mandate to force them to return home. And we are not just talking, we are still actively working towards peace.
Tweeting excerpts of the video, Salkida said the sect also released a video where one of the commander swapped for the 82 Chibok girls revealed that more than five of them were released in the swap deal.
He revealed that Shuibu Moni, one of the commanders released in exchange for 82 Chibok Girls threatened to bomb Abuja, the nation’s capital.
