President Buhari Approves Made-in-Nigeria Dress Days
President Mohammadu Buhari has finally declared Mondays and Wednesdays, every week as Made-in-Nigeria dress days across the country. This declaration was penned down in a later dated April 4th, 2017 addressed to the Executive secretary of National Institute of Cultural Orientation (NICO), Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, through the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. The letter reads as follows,“The Federal Executive Council (FEC), at its meeting of Wednesday, 1st February, 2017 has approved the adoption of Mondays and Wednesdays of every week as Made-in-Nigeria Dress Days as part of measures to uplift the nation’s culture and promote Made-in-Nigeria textile products”. Buhari also stated that the made in Nigeria campaign be made to National Economic Council to secure the buy in of State Government.
As a follow up to the correspondence written, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed asked NICO to prepare a comprehensive proposal on how to effectively implement the policy that it would encourage Nigerians observe the Made-in-Nigeria Dress Days.
