Malabu Oil Scandal: Ex-AGF Adoke Tenders More Exonerating Evidence

The embattled former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, has presented two letters released from his office to Mohammed Sani Abani, to confirm his representative in the then lingering scandal over ownership rights among shareholders of the Malabu Oil and Gas Limited, and its response.
In the letter dated December 12, 2012, titled REQUEST TO CONFIRM INSTRUCTIONS RE: REQUEST FOR URGENT INTERVENTION IN THE MATTER OF THE DISPUTE AMONG SHAREHOLDERS OF MALABU OIL AND GAS LIMITED, PARTICULARLY IN RELATION TO ISSUES RELATING TO THE OWNERSHIP RIGHT, and signed by Pius I. Oteh, Special Assistant to Honourable Minister of Justice, the ex-Minister requested Mr. Mohammed Sani Abacha to acknowledge one Enervate Consult Limited as its representative in the resolution of the lingering ownership rights.
In response, according to the document tendered by Adoke, Mohammed Sani Abacha, in a letter dated December 18, 2012, acknowledged receipt, and stated thus:
“I want to formally inform you that I want to directly handle the current stage of effortsto resolve the outstanding shareholders dispute and would want to be represented at all meetings by Abdullahi Haruna Esq. and Reuben Okpanachi Atabo Esq.”
The letter was signed by Mohammed Sani Abacha himself.
It would be recalled that Mr. Adoke has come under heavy criticism in recent past over the way the Malabu Oil issue was handled, with many saying he collected kick backs in the illegal sale of OML 245.
