Court discharge and acquits Justice Ademola and wife, Olabowale of corruption charges
Justice Jude Okeke of the Federal High court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the 18-counts gratification and illegal possession of firearms charges filed against Justice Adeniyi Ademola, his wife Olabowale and another lawyer, Joe Agi, by the Federal Government.
Justice Ademola was arraigned for allegedly collecting bribe from lawyers and others while dispensing his duties as a judge.
His wife is alleged to have been used as a proxy to sometimes collect the bribes. At the resumed hearing of the case today, the trial judge, Justice Jude Okeke, held that the prosecution team had failed to establish any prima facie case against the defendants and therefore "no justifiable reason to call on the defendants to enter their defence."
"The matter is therefore resolved in favour of the defendants and all the defendants are hereby discharged", Justice Okeke ruled.
