More revelations have continued to trail the take over of the Silverbird Group owned by the family of Senator Ben Murray-Bruce following its inability to repay an N11bn loan obtained from Union Bank Plc.
Barely 24 hours after online ?news platform SaharaReporters reported that the senator have have used substantial part of the N11bn loan to purchase choice property in the United States, the online platform said it has found two other properties worth $1.5m located in Los Angeles County, California belonging to Guy Murray Bruce.
Guy is a brother of Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, who campaigns under the #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira hashtag he uses for publicity stunts on social media. Both men are executives of their family’s Silverbird media companies.
The brothers are listed as defendants in ongoing legal proceedings with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), which only a few days ago seized several companies belonging to the Senator. AMCON alleges that Senator Murray-Bruce failed to service Union Bank loans he took out for the companies in question between 2005 and 2007.
According to report, earlier investigation reveals that Senator Murray-Bruce purchased one posh Beverly Hills mansion in 2007. The current investigation found that two additional properties were purchased in 2007 in the name of Guy Murray-Bruce in the Los Angeles County area. The first, purchased for $1,110,000 on March 20th 2007, is located at 11445 Santini Lane, Northridge CA 91326. The property is said to have five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and be 3,195 square feet.
The second, in the name of Guy and Anne Murray-Bruce, is a condominium estimated to have cost $470,700. It is located at 11453 Ghiberti Way, #87, Northridge CA 91326. Bought by him on September 6th, 2007 the property is described as being a “gorgeous villa in the lovely Tuscany complex” and “located in the prestigious Porter Ranch community.”
It has tiled floors, two master bedrooms each with walk-in closets and personal bathrooms, and a “unique courtyard with open patio plus a covered patio that could double as a carport.”
The Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office confirmed to SaharaReporters that these properties were in the name of Guy Murray-Bruce and purchased for $1.1 million and $470,700 respectively.
Defendants listed in the AMCON case also include Michael Murray-Bruce, Roy Murray-Bruce, and Jonathan Murray-Bruce.
