Ayagah was elected chairman on the platform of the APC. He defected in the new political realignment in Benue to the PDP.
It was at a rally organised by Governor Samuel Ortom’s wife, Eunice, for the reelection of the governor in the local government area.
But while the chairman mounted the podium to address the rally, he shouted Aaaaaa Peeeee Ceeeee (APC) two times.

He was summoned before the PDP elders to explain the error.
He was found kneeling down before elders. But, it could not be ascertained if he was forced to kneel down.

14-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide After Posting Cry For Help On Facebook
A girl was found dead by her dad in her bedroom moments after posting a cry for help on Facebook. Rochelle Pryor, 14, took her own life hours after she wrote on social media: “Once I’m gone, the bullying and the racism will stop.”
The teenager died in hospital on January 10, nine days after her dad Geoffrey discovered her unconscious in her room.

in a heartbreaking tribute, her older sister Kyanne described her as “sweet, happy and funny”. The teenage girl was concerned her siblings’ friends had “turned against her”.
Kyanne told The Australian: “She was really upset by it. “There was racism involved – a lot of the time it was just random people who don’t realise what they’re saying.”
Rochelle was involved in an altercation in August outside school and she returned home with cuts on her legs.
Following the incident her mum said her mental health began to decline and she stopped wanting to go to school.
Rochelle’s death makes her the fifth Aboriginal girl in Australia to commit suicide in the past two weeks.

Lecturers Give Fresh Conditions To End ASUU Strike

Lecturers have given the federal government one condition that would make ASUU call off the nationwide strike.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said the only condition to suspend the ongoing nationwide strike is for the Federal Government to pay, at least, N50 billion Revitalisation Fund; out of one tranche of N220 billion.
ASUU national Chairman, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi spoke to newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday, ahead of the union’s scheduled meeting with the federal government on Monday.
ASUU said that the federal government must also present concrete evidence of implementation of the promised N20 billion Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) and how the balance of N85 billion would be paid; with timelines.
He pointed out that the union and government since the strike started, “have had seven meetings. We have been having promises. We have demanded that some of their promises, which we took back to our members, some items on their list, have been rejected.
“And, there have been demands for the review. We want them to pay, immediately, N50 billion as a sign of commitment this quarter and, for the next three quarters, the government can pay N50 billion each quarter.
“So, our members have rejected the N20 billion they proposed that will be spread over two quarters in 2019. Our members have insisted on the release of at least N50 billion.
“In relation to EAA, which they have an outstanding N105 billion, our members are saying even if you (government) are releasing N20 billion, let it be stated clearly that it is only for ASUU members and the balance which you promised to pay in four instalments, attach timelines to the balance and figures.
“In 2017, this government promised to mainstream the EAA into the budget so that we won’t be coming to talk about arrears. If government had put that into the 2018 budget, we would not be talking about arrears now.
“Our members are saying government should take steps, mainstream it into the 2019 budget and that is note late because they (National Assembly) are still working on the budget.”
He added, “We have gone beyond these promises. In fact, the first meeting we had, we were told that before the end of the week, the matter would be resolved. But, that was government speaking. After that first meeting, we have had some other six meetings, yet, we are still relating to promises.
“We don’t really take government’s promises seriously again because we have heard promises upon promises.
“What our members told us when we were starting this meeting, was, ‘come back with concrete evidence of implementation.’
“And, we have told them (government) in clear terms. By the way, let me also tell you that today, we are meeting again, and we are still hoping that concrete evidence on implementation will be put on the table.
“So, that is what our members have been talking about. The National Executive Council of ASUU is our principal, and, each time we engage government, we keep reminding them that our members said or our NEC said ‘don’t come back to us unless you have concrete evidence of implementation.’ So, on that, we stand.”

The United States Chamber of Commerce has confirmed a private meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a mailed response to TheCable’s inquiries on attending the meeting, Katharine Cooksey, senior manager, media and external communications, US Chamber of Commerce, said no reporters will be able to attend the meeting.
“Thank you for reaching out to us. The event you mention is private, closed press, and off the record,” Cooksey said.
“Only U.S.-Africa Business Center members are invited. No reporters will be able to attend.”
TheCable had initially tried to confirm the details of the event from the chamber and the US Africa Business Centre websites, but there was no record of the meeting.
Atiku, who arrived the US this afternoon, however, said he will be meeting with US government officials, without giving details of who and who he will be meeting.
“Just arrived Washington D.C for meeting with US government officials, Nigerians living in D.C metropolis and the business community,” Atiku tweeted with his signature AA.
The chamber is the largest lobbying group in the US, spending more money than any other lobbying organization on a yearly basis.
It has specific economic and political leanings, which plays major roles in elections in the United States and the creation of jobs in the world’s largest economy.
Atiku has built his campaign around job creation, running with the tagline: “Atiku means jobs”. It is, however, unclear how Atiku’s meetings will further facilitate his quest to create jobs in Nigeria.
